Census on 21st March 2021

Households across Gloucestershire were asked to complete the nationwide survey of housing and the population. The answers shape how public services such as schools, transport routes and doctors surgeries in the county are planned and funded, as well as making sure that funding is provided to those that need it most.

Everyone needs to complete the census – it's the law. Not completing the census or providing false information is an offence and you could be fined up to £1,000. Some questions are labelled as voluntary, so while you don't legally have to answer them, your responses will be really helpful in providing an accurate picture of the people and households in England and Wales.

You can trust the census to keep your data safe. You will receive a unique code through the post to access the census online. A householder at an address is responsible for completing the census either for the whole household or by ensuring that each member answers their own. If you wanted to fill in a separate census for your household, you could have requested an individual access code without them being notified. Every household should complete the census on Sunday 21st March 2021 or as soon as possible after this date. The census ideally should be completed online , but paper copies are available on request through the census website, or by calling 0800 141 2021. If you are outside of the UK on this date for less than 12 months, you still need to complete the census. Go here for more information on the census.

Some historical local families

If you are tracing your family history, finding out who lived in a certain house many years ago or conducting an academic study into say social mobility or occupations in the past then you may well find these records very useful.
They are taken from eight Willersey census records. In the UK a census is taken every ten years.
These records come from 1841, 1851, 1861, 1871, 1881, 1891, 1901 and 1911. The type of information collected varies slightly from decade to decade.
The population of Willersey at the last census in March 2011 was 816.
