The 2019 Scarecrow Challenge - Who's Under the Hat? August Bank Holiday Weekend and before. Thank you to everyone who found time to take part in this year's Scarecrow Trail - and didn't they look brilliant. A fabulous 28 wonderful scarecrows in the trail this year, plus the Collin Close cricketers scene that popped up announced for a bit of fun. Loads of skill and imagination capturing people's attention and giving us all a cheery antidote to the gloom that often seems to dominate the news. Brilliant. Thank you all. Bob Topp It was just a bit of fun, but for the record following the voting by you all, the adjudged winners were Carole & Gary Taylor with Cowboy Builders,  closely followed by Expect Delays by Gi & Pete Kavanagh and This Way; That Way by The Sparrow Family, Claire, John, Toby, Henry & Charlie. Voting forms and a map were in Willersey Stores. There were 26 scarecrows to visit and mark this year. For your votes to count please return you form to Willersey Stores by midday on Saturday 24th August. 
 
 After last summer's scarecrow trip to the seaside this year's theme was totally freestyle. The only requirement is that you needed a hat of your choosing to guide your scarecrow character. So whether it's a flat cap, boater, bonnet, helmet, crown, beret or any other piece of headwear, the choice was yours. Most of us had something in the bottom of the wardrobe or perhaps a trip to a charity shop or an eBay purchase might be our inspiration. This year we let our imaginations run wild. A work based scarecrow; leisure or hobby influence; historical; or scarecrow inspired by those who live in other parts of the world - the choice was limitless. You just needed that hat! Here are the results of our Willersey Village Scarecrow Competition in 2019. Village residents voted for their choices in the week before the Horticultural and Craft Show.
