Willersey Village Amateur Horticultural and Craft Show 2018

Our “Horticultural and Craft Show” 2018 was held in the Village Hall
on August 27th Bank Holiday Monday (2pm to 5pm)
and many other separate activities took place in Willersey during the afternoon.

Although the Sunday before was wet and windy, the weather for the August Bank Holiday Monday was dry and fine with light winds.
Prize winners for the Show and the Scarecrow competition were announced at 3:00pm in the Village Hall on the Show Day.

A “Big Thank You” to everyone who entered the Horticultural Show, and for those who displayed their talents in the Craft Show at the Village Hall on August Bank Holiday. Over 350 people attended the Horticulture and Craft show, with the quality of entries in the hall outstanding, whilst again the displays in the Craft Show was superb.

Congratulations to the Winners

The Eric Beadle Cup for the best total exhibits at the Show was won by Jane Ewers with an accumulated total score of 33 points -- well done Jane.

The Companies who help to sponsor the Show's schedule, whose support is invaluable.
Peter Taylor for allowing us to use the showroom for teas and cakes, and arranging his magnificent collection of classic cars.

Roger for entertaining the crowds with his music.
Finally I would also like to say a big thank you to all of the Committee, without whose efforts and hard work throughout the year, the Show would not happen.

All money raised from the Horticultural Show on 27th August will be sent locally to - “Doing it for Lottie”.

Lottie is a very happy smiley six year old girl who loves to be involved with everything. She has been diagnosed with a rare genetic disorder which has severely delayed her development, causing complex special needs. She is unable to talk, walk, sit, chew solid food and feed herself. As you can imagine, she requires a large amount of care on a daily basis.
Our current aim is to make our house more accessible to her. To achieve this, we need to raise funds for specialist equipment for the home, in particular a wheelchair lift so that she can access the whole of our house, not just stay downstairs. This will allow her to sleep upstairs with the rest of her family. This lift will be fitted into a wall so we can park her wheelchair into the lift and send her upstairs. Once upstaors she will have a bedroom that is very close to her parents bedroom, as currently we have to rely on a boby monitor or popping downstairs to check on her.
The cost of this piece of euipment is estimated at £10,000. We estimate that our house will be ready for the lift in a year's time.
Currently we are taking fundraising one step at a time - we have events planned for this year but only ideas for the next couple of years.
If you would like to get involved, take part in an event or have any suggestions of events that you would like to see, please contact Claire on 01386 853728 or 0794 735648, or visit our Facebook page Doing it for Lottie. Thank you for supporting our little girl.

To exhibit at the Craft Show please contact Sandy Barnes or Gillian Beale.
